Malls are something of an institution in Medellin. A place to be seen, hang out with friends or go shopping.

If you want to relax in one of the many comfortable malls in Medellin for a few hours they offer everything you might expect such as restaurants, fast food courts, clothing stores, cineplexes, good parking facilities and more.

Addresses are given but give yourself a rest and take a taxi because navigating Medellin takes some doing.

The following are some of the nicest to visit:

• Oviedo

• El Tesoro

• San Diego

• Unicentro

• Vizcaya

• Monterrey

Medellin is booming and shopping centres are popping up left, right and center.

Click here to share your findings of a hidden gem such as a clothing, gift or books store that you think others might enjoy.
Oviedo

Cra. 43a #6 Sur-15 (On El Poblado next to McDonalds)

Oviedo is the fanciest in Medellin and centrally located in El Poblado right next to the Hotel Plaza del Poblado.
El Tesoro

Cra. 25a 1a Sur-45 (On Transversal Superior)

El Tesoro used to be #1 but Oviedo gives some tough competition.

It has a magnificent view over the city and is a bit more quiet than Oviedo. Worth the visit for the view.

San Diego

Cl. 34 #43-66 (On El Poblado toward downtown district)

A nice alternative and a bit more down to earth. Located strategically between El Poblado and Centro (Downtown).

Take the opportunity to wander around the neighbouring area toward El Poblado that is fairly charming with a number of small Tienda (shops) selling snacks, coffees and such.

Unicentro

Cra. 66b # 34a-76 (In central Medellin)

A family mall. Friendly and relaxed with all the usual. There is a Crepes and Waffles on the 3rd floor that is easily overlooked.

Vizcaya

Cl. 9 #30-382 (3 min walk up from Parque Lleras)

The mall is no longer that popular but is interesting for 3 reasons:

- Excellent view over El Poblado.
- Has cheap cinemas that are never full.
- Decent indoor climbing wall in the basement parking house.

Monterrey

Cra. 48 & Calle 10 (Right next to the Calle 10 Metro station)

Specializes in electronics and computers and has a decent bowling alley on the top floor. Lacks good places to eat but has a cineplex.
