Learning Spanish in Medellin is in many ways easy because the majority of Colombians simply don't speak English. In other words, you don't have much a choice.
Universidad EAFIT offers intensive courses at the language center. Enrollment in these entitles you to a visa as you are considered a full-time student.I personally attended a semester at the university some years ago and can testify that the courses are excellent with the additional bonus of access to the sports facilities (including 25m swimming pool) and free access to all other classes being held at the university.
This is also a good way of meeting other foreigners who often organize social events.
The campus is friendly, has computers with internet access and a large food court.
