Spigas D'i Palermo Downstairs restaurant serving buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with the addition of their Italian menu that has good pastas, steaks and the works. Once a month for a limited period of time, they serve a special menu consisting of for example seafood or Argentine cuisine. On the top floor, they actually have a rotating restaurant with a spectacular view of the city that I've been to on a few occasions. The city lights at night are particularly impressive and this is from the 19th floor so you really get to see the city and surrounding mountains.
Their specialty is obviously ribs but they also do steaks, Thai chicken and a variety of dishes that are descent but nothing to write home about. The view adds a special touch though so I recommend it. I think the hotel seems a little more open armed than in previous times and suspect the competition with other, newer hotels, is having its' effect. The place, although still looking good, seems a little dated and in need of some light upkeep but nothing extreme. The sense I got now in 2009, is that they're keen to have visitors and that you might be able to negotiate better deals here than at the Hotel Intercontinental Medellin for example that is clearly spending money of upgrades - and succeeding. My bottom line take on the Dann Carlton Medellin is that it may have passed it's peak but for the money, it's definately worth considering. (I was quoted US$89/ night for a 2 week stay) |
