Zhang is next to the Juan Valdez Cafe on the second floor of the San Fernando complex located on the Avenida El Poblado, only a block from the Dann Carlton hotel.
Decorated with statues of the head of the Bhudda, with plenty of red (Chines lucky color), hardwood tables and floors, Zhang provides a comfortable and spacious setting for a terrific Chinese meal. There are open windows and a good view of the city at the far end.
We went for lunch and ate only starters consisting of the Duck Lettuce Wraps (COP 21.200/ US$ 10), Zhang's Lettuce wraps (COP 12.100/ US$6) Pesos and the Camarones mu shu (COP 10.200/ US$5).
The duck lettuce wrap was absolutely delicious - light, crispy and tasty, served with fried crispy noodles and lettuce on the side for you to wrap yourself. The Zhang's Lettuce Wraps were almost equally delicious - again, crunchy and fresh. The Camarones (shrimp) mu shu was all-in-all very tasty but overshadowed by the other two. I'm sure to go again and will update on other dishes.
Other than starters, on the menu you will find soups, salads, vegetable dishes, fried rice, beef & pork, seafood and duck & chicken. Some examples of dishes are the wonton soup, chicken papaya salad, MaPo Tofu, Szechwan chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork and chicken Kung Pao. Price range: COP 9.100 - 20.100 (US$ 4.5 - 10).
What I particularly enjoyed was the light and fresh tasting food they served which is somewhat unusual here in Medellin.
The service was fast and professional. This is one of my new favorites for sure.
Enjoy!
