The drive to Carmen de Viboral, once you pass Rionegro is very beautiful. The town lies surrounded by green and lush farmland and is about an hour by car from Medellin.

We went on a Sunday and I was taken in by how friendly the town was. The central square was full of families lazing away the remaining hours of their day off, eating food from the many stalls serving among other things, delicious, bright red candy apples that I for one, could not refuse.
The main reason we came however was for the ceramics. Having looked around at a few different stores this one really stood out:
CERAMICAS ESMALTARTE
Cra. 31 #37-05
tel: 543 0890
Everything is handmade and painted and you can tell the difference. The store is very friendly and you can take your time, selecting the items you're interested in. The small courtyard in the middle of the store houses two kilns and shelves with a number of pieces ready to be fired a second time.
There is also a good selection of seconds that are cheaper of course and in my opinion, still in very good shape.
They most certainly have the touch.
